Oil Filters

While I was getting my Dart ready for some serious commuting, I ran into a problem with oil pressure shortly after changing the oil. It turned out the pressure switch was giving a false alarm when the engine warmed but in the process of troubleshooting, I tried to read up on oil filters. I came across a posting on http://www.slantsix.com on oil filters that had a link to an oil filter study. I found it quite interesting and hope you will find it useful. I don't expect to be buying Fram oil filters for my next oil change.

Another study of oil filters was done on http://www.bobistheoilguy.com. That site has a forum and one of the topics is BOBISTHEOILGUY FILTER TESTS. Another interesting review of oil filters.

If you have a Honda Prelude, you might find the NTPOG Oil Filter Review useful. It also has some interesting information about oil filters in general.

I think the Oil Filter link is still good but the webmaster appears to have some sort of block on linking.

Just seen this topic and found it interesting. In Australia most of the filters are made by the one company and "branded" with other companies logos etc. There really isn't a difference between a GM PF-10 and a Ryco Z30 because they are one and the same. Likewise there really is no difference between a Ford FL-1 and a Ryco Z9 because they are one and the same. There is, however, a difference (externally) between a Toyota 15601-68010 oil filter and a Z9 but the Z9 fits and is cheaper so that's what most people use.
