Propane Turbo question

Post by Guest »

I'm building up my 350 to run on propane with a twin turbo set up.

I'm running the Impco 425 mixer with the Model E regulator.

The only question i really have which i haven't seen posted anywhere is how to tell the regulator it needs to dump more fuel under boost.

I'm doing a blow through set up and i need to know how to plumb the turbo in to the regulator. Normally you would take manifold pressure to a fuel management unit.

I hope that was clear.

Thanks in advance
Mike

Although I have not yet built a turbo engine, I think the answer to your problem is very simple. The converter is normally referenced to atmospheric pressure by the vent cap on top. You can easily reference the converter to the mixer with a balance tube the same way I have done on my engine. I installed a balance tube because I didn't want any pressure restriction in the air cleaner to affect the fuel mixture.

I replaced the vent cap in the converter cover with a brass elbow and screwed a brake line into it to form the balance tube. It connects into a similar fitting on the mixer.

You can see where the balance tube connects into the mixer in this picture.
