Hello II

Post by turbine guy » Thu May 08, 2008 12:30 am

Own/manage an aircraft & industrial turbine engine overhaul and test facility in Northern British Columbia. Currently the only turbine engine test facility in the world using propane as the primary fuel. Engine supplier to two Land Speed Record attempt cars. ("North American Eagle-II" and "Sonic Arrow")
Been involved with propane converted vehicles since the late 1970's, and currently enjoy "pushing the limits" on diesel/propane augmentation and doing what others say cannot be done.

It all sounds too cool! But I'm sure it's just a day job at times eh?
Welcome to group.

You are right there, it can be fun, but a job none the less.
Thanks for the welcome.
If you would like to see some turbines running on vapourous propane, check out youtube, using the search words "S&S Turbines". Those are engines running on my test cell, and most on 'pane.

Now I remember! I saw you guys on discovery channel testing the engine for the Eagle! What was it again, a fuel sensor problem? Anyhow, I absolutley love the magnetic braking, hows that working out for them?
For those not familiar here's a link or two,

Just how much propane vapour does a LM-1500 consume at half throttle anyway? Must be one big vapourizer, guess an Impco model E won't do eh? LOL
