I was checking the postings on Eng-Tips and came across this posting that you might find interesting. The title of that posting is "Vegetable oil as fuel for trucks". Eng-Tips promotes itself as an intelligent work forum for engineering professionals.

I am a studying heavy duty technician, a friend of mine and myself found a recipe for bio diesel and we made about ten gallons out of old vegetable oil. It was a surprisingly simple process. We ran it in a 12 valve cummins and it seemed to work just fine with no noticable loss in power.

I'm a member of several waste veggy oil boards, and I'm in the process of securing my oil source, before I convert my truck to a 2-tank system.

A few friends of mine are ahead of me and have already converted their trucks... I'm just too lazy to collect & filter old oil (and have NO room to setup a filtering station at home), so I'm working on a batch of new (virgin) canola oil that's just past its "shelf date" for food use.. but the catch is, it's 8,000 gallons or none.. :P

Bio blends from veggy oils have been shown to decrease wear metals as much as nearly 50% too, which helps longevity..
