Re: New 383 SBC - question on mixer setting
Sorry for delay. I'm not able to check in as often as I used to. I gave you timing numbers and you are running higher then those. As stated too mileage can be affected by too little timing and too much timing. Too little the flame goes out before the piston reaches the bottom of it's stroke. Too muc...

Re: New 383 SBC - question on mixer setting
Your timings to late still. You need to have a mechanical of 27 to 30 degrees and another 10 of vacuum on top of that. You will end up with an idle of 15 or 16 but that's ok. No load at the point anyways. Unless you have a really high compression these are acceptable values without having access to ...

Re: Dies out when in traffic
I understand your rational on the propane but it is easy to see if you have a liquid to vapour issue prior to the regulator. Propane is like a refrigerant. If it vapourizes in the line or lock off before it gets into the vapourizer there will be frost all over the area. That is the point of the prob...

Re: Dies out when in traffic
Yes, he went HEI, but new or used. Most just go to the scrapyard and get one. They use the old module and don't think about it. If the unit is new OK. If used changing the module is cheap and ensures there is no problem with it. Resistor. Yep, maybe. A new 12 volt line has to be run or the resistor ...

Re: Dies out when in traffic
These old 350's were bulletproof. Although the problem you describe appears to be fuel I don't think it is. The GM Hei has an ignition module in the distributor. They were notorious for causing stalling and poor starting when hot. The module is cheap and easy to replace. When it gets hot it may stil...

Re: Prins VSI-2 cable/sw
I did a quick search and found many places the cable can be purchased although they may not be local to your area. The software is available online also, however use caution when downloading. Make sure the site is reputable.

Hello South Texas, I just noticed your post. This area allows you to introduce yourself which you have done, however most of the members just jump to the technical area listed as Propane Forum. If you still have questions about the GFI system you would get a faster and more detailed response posting...

Re: I'm looking for a 73-10 sender.
That's probably because your being so specific. There is no thing such as a 73-10. The proper sender for a ford is listed as a 70-10 which is the way it is listed in a Ford service manual also.

Re: I'm looking for a 73-10 sender.
Just texted owner. He has some in stock. They fit the Manchester and Sleegers tanks. You could also try the Propane Depot in Vancouver. With the cost of freight these days it might be cheaper if they have one sitting in their stock.

Re: I'm looking for a 73-10 sender.
If you haven't found one yet call Proquip Sales in Calgary. 1-866-692-8132. They may have some left. No such thing as a 73-10. 70-10 is the standard used on all older Fords.

Re: Timing gear considerations on 1978 Ford 460
Usually the dat plate gives the capacity with the letters in front of it stamped as WC which stands for water capacity or 100%. So your 202L is actually only capable of being filled to 161L + or minus a few either way. I'll look into the 1644 gas valve and see if I can dig one up and let you know.

Re: Timing gear considerations on 1978 Ford 460
I presume your running a 425 on this truck. The 425 has a different gas valve available for the F600, 700, 800 series to improve economy. The part number is Av1-1644. IMPCO purposely designed this valve to run a little leaner in the mid ranges and would not significantly richen up until the throttle...

Re: Can I use the Bosch CNG injector for LPG?
Volume wise they should be ok. Their pressure is rated at 3 bar. Considering LPG has twice the BTU's and most LPG regs put out 1 to 2 bar the volume should be within the working range. The difference in ohms is another matter. As you stated the typical LPG ECU drives a 2 ohm injector, however LPG in...

Re: Model E in series or parallel with heater core?
Been away for a while. I've been very busy this winter and just have not had time to check in. Your heater core is probably just partially plugged. Think of it like a miniature rad with dozens of very small tubes. The tubes begin to plug and when enough of them are plugged it just won't produce enou...

Re: Vff30 with ohg vacuum hookup
That's correct. Fuel will not come out of the regulator until it sees vacuum generated by the 450 mixer as air flows though it. It takes a negative pressure of 1/2 inch WC to open the secondary valve in the regulator and this comes from air flowing through the venturri in the 450 mixer. If the vapou...
