Re: Some engineer type questions
I still have a little trouble with some of the terminology but when it becomes more like an absolute pressure reading and cuts through it all to what I read on my gauge, I get a bit more confident I'm not about to blow all my hard work the first time it hits 5000 plus rpm. One of the links I found w...

Re: Some engineer type questions
Static CR basically means squat Yep but gives us all a common frame of reference to work from. In general I can follow right along with the builds you do on the sbc and get a pretty good idea the dcr that would result but without having a number for it. I know the static ratio and presure that resu...

Re: Some engineer type questions
On a truck I used to own, 429 ford running 12.5:1 comp and with a fairly small cam, we tested at about 200 psi. Same timing specs basically as steptoe above and got similar mileage from a really high gear ratio and a 5 speed trans. No detonation, lots of miles on that same engine now, no problems. I...

Re: She's up and runnin!
I like the look and bought two of those same air cleaner setups. They both whistle quite loudly under acceleration though.

Re: 429 gas mizer !
Yaa, I wasn't dissapointed in how that turned out by any means, just the initial price ford vs chevy really. I kinda hate to admit it but when I first got the data logger and the afr gauge I was really just looking to confirm to myself that my ear and procedure were as good as any. Ha, we old boys d...

Re: 429 gas mizer !
Yes an lm1 but don't have any of the add ons. Just the rpm cable. I only got the lm 1 a few years after already running that engine about 30,000 miles. I only put the afr gauge in two years back right after the first mixer was stolen and it all had to be reset. An msd dizzy added later too was the l...

Hah, I am now a chevy man due to the price of good ford parts around where I live. Chevy stuff is about half the price. I hear what you are saying on the timing, believe me i had concerns. The distributor advance doesn't kick in the whole ten degrees at idle. just 6. Starts well everytime. The afr n...

429 gas mizer !
OK not really a gas mizer but pretty good for a heavy truck! I am looking for tips to do the same but better with a sbc in a lighter truck. I’ve read on here many times over the years but never posted. I found a lot to fuel my interest and eventually built a truck combining as many of the parts and ...
