Converting a GM Gen-V 6.2L direct injection engine to Propane
Ok folks, my 2005 GMC Denali, liquid injection truck is getting long in the tooth. (Actually, I just have new truck envy.) This truck has an ex-Bi-Phase straight liquid injection system, 6.0l engine and has 145,000km total accumulated. It still runs well, but I simply want a new pickup truck, specif...

Re: Australian L67 build
Not sure what they may be called in OZ, but in Canada, we call them "nozzle rings" or "injector rings". Typically, they range from triple 25mm orifice ring for a 5.7l Chevy, dual 30mm ring for 7.5l Ford, or single rings for industrial units anywhere from 20mm up to 90+mm. Some are adjustable on the ...

Re: Bi-Phase Liquid Propane Injected GMC Sierra Denali!!!!
Bringing this old thread back to life, yes, I still own and drive this vehicle, the Bi-Phase system is still functioning well! I did change the heads on this engine (2005 GMC Denali, with the Q-Code 345 hp 6.0l engine.) due to intake seat recession. (All 8 cylinders were affected.) at 118,000km. I w...

Re: Australian L67 build
Have you considered a simple nozzle ring for the vapour injection point, installed immediately downstream of the mass airflow sensor, rather than a draw-through set up? Blowers loath any inlet restriction thus a draw-through will impose some loss of blower efficiency and boost. A streamlined nozzle ...

Re: Liquid injection installation
Roger, My truck was not ordered with an alternate fuel engine, it was converted to liquid injection by the original owner, who purchased a kit from Bi-Phase just before they sold to Schwans. I'm not convinced that the valve seat recession this is not a liquid issue. I have several trucks in my fleet...

Re: Liquid injection installation
Franz, When I purchased the truck, I noticed it cranked strange, and performed a cylinder leak down test. No.8 cylinder had high leakage, and you could hear the air escaping into the intake manifold. The truck did seem to run fine though. Through 6 months of driving, the No.8 cylinder started to dro...

Re: Who Killed the Electric Car?
Time to revive this subject from the dead. I bought a Ford Focus Electric, and am using it as my daily commuter; -27c here the other day, and so far, "Sparky" is working fine. Locally we get our power from a local 3.2gWe hydro electric dam, which is pretty darn green. In the summer, I plan to charge...

Re: Liquid injection installation
I have a Bi-Phase system on my personal truck, installed by the previous owner, who specialized in vehicle conversions. (2005 GMC DEnali, 6.0l engine.) In searching e-bay, I've picked up two Bi-Phase kits, formerly installed on Schwans food delivery trucks, for the Vortec 8100 engine. That is about ...

Re: Need advice on 454 engine build
Had to chime in here. I do not recommend electric water pumps for anything other than drag racing or dyno runs. Put an electric pump on the street and you will have cooling problems. Tough to beat the stock water pump. I also have to agree with Steptoe on head gaskets. Too much squish clearance, alt...

Re: Bi-Phase Liquid Propane Injected GMC Sierra Denali!!!!
Thanks Roger. I will take a look at Roush's filter, and maybe incorporate something along those lines. So far the consensus is; No additives needed. Or, that they are ineffective, and/or dubious results.

Re: Bi-Phase Liquid Propane Injected GMC Sierra Denali!!!!
Thanks step toe, I've worked in the gas industry for many years and am familiar with Captan and Mercaptans. When i say "stinky", I mean really stinky, as in condensates. Regarding polymers, Turbocohen on Eng-Tips website talks about an additive being needed with liquid injection systems to prevent i...

Re: Bi-Phase Liquid Propane Injected GMC Sierra Denali!!!!
Back from the dead. (Post subject that is.) A new question, where does one find the "additive" to reduce polymer biuldup in the liquid injectors? How does Roush get around this issue, does he offer additive to the customers who purchase his liquid injection trucks? How about Shwans, does anyone know...

Re: Bi-Phase Liquid Propane Injected GMC Sierra Denali!!!!
Joel, Thanks for the tips. Likely I will have a "winter" and a "summer" tune, to roughly follow fuel rail pressure. The truck was definately sick when I first picked it up. Would not start cold, and throttle response was quite lazy. It's doing much better now though. I understand the stoich issue be...

Re: Bi-Phase Liquid Propane Injected GMC Sierra Denali!!!!
Steptoe, again thanks for the info. Two widebands to replace my existing narrowbands, to keep my on-board GM VCM happy. I agree for tuning, a single wideband is fine, but the vehicle computer expects to to see inputs from two sensors. At any rate, I'll ponder the question a bit more before commiting...

Re: Bi-Phase Liquid Propane Injected GMC Sierra Denali!!!!
Steptoe: What type of wide band O2 sensor are you using? Does it have a switch on the back to change to displaying lambda? Stoich then should be 1.0 indicated lambda, eliminating guesswork as to what is actually stoich. Thanks for the info BTW, I have been reading your threads of late and it looks l...
