Re: LP mixers

Not being smart or anything but it will be worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I bought a brand new/old stock one last year for a very reasonable price (can't remember of the to of my head it will probably be in a thread here somewhere). Search on the various online market places and see wh...

Re: Tuning LPG on Chevy G20

When tuning for timing for LPG I usually (99% of the time) use the petrol timing curve until I have AFR/Lambda where I want it with between 1-2% correction (or <1% if possible). You will never get perfect AFR/Lambda in a data log as there are to many variables to deal with. "More fuel equals a bit m...

Re: Spark Plug type .750" Reach

What is the plug that the engine builder suggested you use? In a regular non high performance engine I usually choose a plug 1 heat range cooler for LPG than the manufacturers specification for petrol but high performance engines often use plug 1 heat range cooler anyway. So to answer your question ...

Thanks for letting us know how you have been going with it. Just remember the lower the timing (closer to TDC) for the same output the more efficient the engine.

I confess that I have not reviewed any of the prior posts, and am not familiar with the one you are referring to.

Hi Franz it is good to hear from you, it has been a long time since you have been regular here. I've got to be honest and say I don't understand why you posted this and the thread below this one is one that suits your expertise down to the ground yet you didn't reply.

Re: Tagging members

I still pop in on a regular basis.. I look nearly everyday, the forum is nearly dead and when we do get new users like today (or yesterday depending on the timezone) it is often a case of posts being looked at by alot of people but no one posts anything to help until long after the post was made. I...

Tagging members

Hi Frank phpBB has the ability to notify members when they are mentioned using a certain method (e.g. @Frank) in a topic. There is an extension called Simple Mentions that enables this. It would be handy as the forum is not visited as much by the old regulars as it used to be and people who come her...

Hi, I'm sorry to say without much more information I am unable to help much but Franz and C3H8 will probably be able to offer guidance. Franz is an LPG guru who is also from Texas and C3H8 from Canada is a wealth of knowledge.

Re: Australian L67 build

A bit of an update on this. The old Ecotec 3.8 V6 had another problem which meant I had to swap the engines over it is still running as an Ecotec not an L67. What happened to the original engine was it spun a cam bearing and snapped the camshaft between cylinders 2 and 3. So I did a block swap and h...

Re: Why would a propane engine need to "warm up" to idle low?

All engines need a little warmth to idle well, LPG is no different. In my experience coolant flow through the regulator does impact on idle quality. When an engine is first started coolant isn't flowing and the coolant in the regulator is required to vapourise -30 degree liquid LPG. Once coolant is ...

Re: having trouble with new install (SBC in boat)

The TBI manifold was designed and fitted by OEM at a time where economy was what most people wanted. The TPI manifold released alot of power from otherwise restricted engines. A good dual plane or single plane will perform very well compared to the TBI. Fix your restriction, which would have a negat...

Re: detonation

Good quality LPG has an octane rating of 105-110 which is ideal for 11-1 compression ratio, alloy heads can afford another full point. The thing is the higher the comp ratio the more critical the timing is. If you get a load of LPG that has alot of Butane in it the octane goes down so if you are alr...

Re: drilling LPG injector bigger, but loosing power

If the problem happens under load you're not going to see it at idle.
You really need to do the tests under load where the engine is misfiring.
