Re: Vff30 with ohg vacuum hookup

Do you have a copy of Franz's book? If not I suggest you get it. So if the lockoff is not closing when the engine is shut down you have a problem somewhere. With the engine running pinch (so you are causing a vacuum restriction) the vacuum line to the lockoff and listen for or better yet watch on a...

Re: Vff30 with ohg vacuum hookup

It should not keep feeding fuel after the engine stops, no matter where the lockoff's vacuum source is. Strange... because it does, but only when connected to the lower port on the mixer. Even if the engine doesn't start, it will continue feeding after I stop cranking, but will not when its hooked ...

Re: Vff30 with ohg vacuum hookup

So I can only make it run and drive if I have the lockoff connected to the port to the right of the mixture screw, and it doesn't keep feeding propane to the mixer after i turn the key off, but I dont like that its hooked up wrong. I'm shooting for the best mileage I can get, and would like to be co...

Re: Vff30 with ohg vacuum hookup

I've been searching for 2 days.... and soon after I posted this I found some answers lol. Above and to the right of the idle screw is a 1/4" port which connects to the enrichment valve. This typically connects to a manifold vacuum source (a PCV valve is a common location). Below and to the left of t...

Vff30 with ohg vacuum hookup

I thought this would be an easy one to find, but I'm having no luck. Turns out I've had the vacuum lines connected wrong for some time on my car. Now that I've rebuilt my model E, and installed the proper orange spring, I'm having runability problems on my 454. My OHG x450 has 3 provisions for vacuu...

Its only money after this but it just might surprise you what it will do with the simple single/ single setup. Its a big block!
By single/ single you mean just 1 converter and 1 mixer? If I can get away with that for now and add later I might go that route. It's just a street car after all.

Whats wrong with this turbo setup?

First off, I'd like to say that this forum is so great that I rarely have to post anything because I find the answers I'm looking for. So I've spent a reasonable amount of money on parts and plumbing, and I've suddenly been made aware of an issue with my turbo setup. So I would like to lay it all ou...

Re: Draw through Turbo?

So my best options would be; 2 Mixers on draw through, or 1 mixer on blow through. I think I'll stick with blow through and just build a big, low profile plenum. Problem is a 14" breather barely fits under my hood as it is, and I want to keep this all under my stock hood. Anything else I should be a...

Draw through Turbo?

Is draw through the best way to go using propane? Here's my idea, tell me if I'm completely out to lunch. I have a 454 with a OHG 450 Mixer. Not sure about what I'm running for a turbo/turbos yet (any input appreciated.) Could I simply bolt my quadrajet baseplate to the intake, build a plenum to bol...

Re: Engine Run On

It was definitely a combination of the fan and the msd box. I'm thinking the fan generated enough current to keep the engine firing on all cylinders, and the msd box only generated enough to fire a few cylinders. Hence why when I took my fan off, it seemed to get worse, when in fact it was getting b...

Re: Engine Run On

Msd sells a diode kit to prevent run on. I might just try it, maybe the fan was originally keeping it running, and now the msd box is.

Engine Run On

Here's the scoop. I swapped the 305 out of my malibu for a 454, and at the same time swapped the impco 425 mixer for an x450 ohg. I'm using a Model E vaporizer, which i haven't swapped the orange spring into like I now know I'm supposed to, but it's on the list. My issue is that ever since i did the...
