intercooling propane engines

Hello all,After seeing that mustang on youtube and reading the post about liquid injection I have been thinking about a new project using the same engine as in the mustang, but tamed down a little....well,a lot really :) From what I understand the "holy grail" with lpi is the cooling effect during va...

turbo mustang/gasresearch

From what I have heard the Mustang has done over 140mph down the 1/4 but converter probs kept him in the 11's  For anyone interested it is an Australian falcon engine, sohc, variable cam timing, cast alloy sump cross bolted for a bullet proof bottom end and tortured regularly by cab drivers Aust...

I can understand why you let it sit for 4 years after all that misfortune! Hopefully things will turn around on the project for you now.If you are looking at suspension/brake improvements have you seen the RRS setup? www.rrs-online.com.au They have dealers in the USA but the prices are a bit disappo...

Franz, apologies for going off the topic here, but out of curiosity what model Mustang are you restoring? Will it be left on propane?

Thanks everyone,it certainly sounds like using gasoline is the easiest.Like gravespropane mentioned,it could be sorted with some trail and error...I don't mind the trial part, but the error part on nitrous can get very costly and I like my JE pistons just the way they are! If I run a separate tank an...

I read somewhere the 4 steps of troubleshooting propane/lpg fueled engines.Cant remember exactly but went sort of like this; 1/Don't look at the propane system,it wont be that 2/Why did you pull all that fuel system to bits? 3/Are you still playing with that fuel system? 4/I told you it wasn't the f...

nitrous and propane

Thanks for the replies, yes I wanted to try and use propane as the enrichment fuel, has anyone done that before? The other alternative is gas like slepybu did,I guess you used an electric pump and a small fuel supply tank? Any hints/sizes of pumps/results much appreciated, thanks again.

leaning out

Hi Danny, yet another member from OZ! First of all, nice looking set up. I'm very interested to see 2 impcos set up,this is what I am thinking of on my next project. My daily driver uses a gasresearch but those twin impcos should be more than capable of supporting your needs I would imagine.I know you ...

Closed loop systems

Thanks for the reply Storm, another member from OZ! To be honest I did look at the Gasresearch unit, but decided to go the vapor line stepper motor system instead.I was a bit worried about relying in an O2 sensor for fuel enrichment, I have long tube headers and the sensor would be waay back on the co...

Economy comparisons

Thanks for all the info,Frank, your Pontiac seems to be a pretty close comparison to my Mopar as far as engine size and highway RPM goes and certainly seems to get better figures,my mileage is marginally better than Imperial73's except I don't get to have fun driving a big block! hopefully the closed...

Economy comparisons

Hello all, I am very curious to compare my economy figures to others out there to see how close I am to getting the best out of my old beast. It is a basically a stroked 318 (349ci) mild propane cam,tri y headers, good ignition recurved vac advance dist and auto with overdrive.I do mainly highway driv...

Hello all, I managed to find a mixture control system that is manufactured here in Australia by a company called Peel Instruments. It is a stepper motor design and operates by restricting the vapor line...sounds like the same principle as the European system mentioned by Franz. The only hassle is that...

closed loop

Thanks for your reply Franz, I guess the Gasresearch units are fairly rare in the USA.The throttle body style design and small square bolt pattern does tend to make fitting a bit of a chore on a conventional holley bolt pattern early V8 manifold compared to the Impco products and I would imagine at ...
