Over the last month I've done more timing adjustments and was able to find some more improvements.

Changing advance springs for the lightest ones, limiting mechanical advance and further adjusting vacuum advance gave some refreshing results with higher engine vacuum along the entire rpm range.

Currently I'm running with this distributor setup;
10° initial
24.5° init+va (in Drive 550rpm) Highest engine-vacuum (20.7")
32° Max. mechanical advance (init+mech) @ 3000rpm.
47° Total (init+mech+va)

Cruising the highway @ around 60mph is now done with about 20" of vacuum.
Idling in Drive @ 20.7" vacuum.

Most interesting (rewarding) part is that normally, my mileage drops about 2 point during the winter. But I've now been able to keep the mileage the same as in the warmer months.

Good work, pity you don't have an adjustable ignition that you can adjust on the fly with a laptop.

An adjustable ignition would probably have saved me hours of time over the last year, and I would most likely had a better running engine much sooner. Would've saved me in fuel costs as well.

I'm slowly making plans to install the Megasquirt ECU in the car and start setting it up.
But I need to fab/find/modify a second distributor so I can swap it in place and use it as a trigger, as long I don't have a crank trigger operational.

This weekend I modified a stock distributor into a locked out electronic distributor so I can use it as a simple trigger device for the Megasquirt ECU.
It's of course not as steady as a crank trigger but it will do for now.

I hooked it up to my MS3 ecu for a benchtest and played with the settings in Tunerstudio.
Next step is to hook up a Hei module and a coil to make some sparks.

Last week I installed and hooked up my MegaSquirt 3 Extra ECU in the Dart.

Finally I was able to manage the engine's ignition timing and advance curve from the driverseat.
After a first testrun around the block I already noticed a happier engine going through the rpms.
I changed a few things in the ignition map and felt another improvement during its 2nd trip.
Called it a day and drove the rest of the week to work and back.

The engine feels way more responsive in pretty much all its rpm-ranges.

Now this weekend I made a few alternate ignition maps with minor alterations to try out and see which the engine likes most.
Will also connect a few more wires to the MegaSquirt ECU like engine temp and the AFR-sensor.

The increase in power is very noticable.
Drivability (<2500rpm) has improved greatly as well. Especially after I added some more (vacuum)timing in the low rpm/low load ranges.
Engine braking is pretty much absent in high gear now when letting off the throttle.
Engine vacuum seems higher across most of the rpm-range.

To give credit where credit is due, I based my timing table on Steptoe's postings mostly, and started modifiying form that point.

Too bad the local dyno-shop is still rebuilding his shop. I really would have liked to see the engine's current torque and power curves.
But in the mean that leaves me more time to fine tune the engine during everyday's.

I wanted to compare (and learn from) various (LPG) spark advance maps around the internet, but couldn't find much what some are running.
