Re: Vapor injection on older motor
my strongest pull I have data logged 28 psi boost at 6200 rpm around 500hp from 2.3 lima
Re: Vapor injection on older motor
That is a cool video. Thanksfpvmustang wrote:hit 33 psi boost today on lpg
I don't dare run that much boost on pump gas.
vgt is variable geometry turbo i run a he351ve off a 6.7 cummins.

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
alrighty, slowly moving forward.
going to solder together my MS3 Megasquirt board this summer and install it on my 7.4L Bug Block on the 77 Suburban I just bought.
I want to install Propane Vapor injection on it.
I would like to know what signals I need to run it, So far I found these:
- engine rpm
- coolant temperature
- MAP (wil also use that for load reference)
- TPS (maybe later when I add boost, but will use MAP for load reference for now)
- IAT
- O2 sensor for AFR
I found that the reducers and some times the fuel rails also have temperature and pressure senders.
Do I need to hook them up?

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
you don't need the lpg temp and pressure to run. i have them turned off right now. beta code changed the tune.
when the new release comes out ill turn them back on.
I would do tps for flood clear, and accel enrichment
wide band o2, good crank trigger
If it was me i would use a tbi and go dual fuel. tps and iac on tbi

So you're saying I just need
Tps
Wide band O2
Crank trigger
And that's it?

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
your list is right. I just really like tps input, crank sensor , and wide band.
like right now since my lpg pressure and temp are off wide band o2 is covering for that.
what do you have for throttle and spark?

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
For spark I'll use a HEI or TBI distributor. Probably the TBI distributor, because its a plug-n-play hookup for programmable ignition with the Megasquirt boards and also want to run programmable ignition through the MS3 board.
what do you mean for throttle?
at first I'd like to keep the carburator and see if I can go dual fuel. But thinking about maybe swapping the carb for a TBI unit.
just dont know if a stock tbi unit can be used on top of a supercharger in a "suck-through" mode.

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
i like the holley tbi units there fuel pressure regulator is referenced to air cleaner so boost friendly. sold 1 to a friend for $60 maybe he still has it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOLLEY-TBI-670- ... 1631435264
then just run a standard efi fuel pump. for blow thru

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
keep in mind I will be putting it on a Big Block 7.4L. Will a 670cfm unit be OK?
and I wont be "blowing through" since the Eaton M112 supercharger is a SUCK through.
if just using vapor injection, the I am thinking bout buying an original F#rd throttle body to mount on it.
if going dual fuel, then I might loose the top part of the intake and just mount a TBI unit on top
some Aussies have done it with regular carbs

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
there are 4 barrel tbi out there but not as cheap
I don't think the injectors are big enough in the 2 barrel to go over 350hp

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
350hp would be freaking awesome....I believe the stock 454 puts out max 230hp...so adding a supercharger to the old low compression beast and max addin 5-7 psi would maybe increase the hp to 300-330 I guess...the blower is for a 5.3L...so will not run any big boost
so I guess a 454 TBI unit would be fine

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
The holley tbi are stock on some chevys. with 2" bores there are different size injectors.
I ran one for awhile on my ranchero. I really liked it.

Re: Vapor injection on older motor
Running an LPG vapour injection system without sensing temp and pressure will work as stated earlier if conditions are stable - which they seldom are.
I do not recommend this as it is not robust against any variation of fuel pressure (ambient temperature -> tank pressure or fuel filter related).
Relying only on a WB to fix this will cause problems at cold start when the WB is not yet operative. No aftermarket piggyback LPG injection system sold today comes without temp and pressure compensation. Competition is fierce and prices are low - If they could get rid of a 15€ sensor and still be reliable, they would have eliminated that already.
My setup has proven to start and run flawlessly in -15°C Winter and +30°C Summer with CNG temps going down to -30°C
