1983 chevrolet stepside (mud, crawl etc)

Post by flatblack »

For starters my names Rob, Heres a little on the project ive been working on for the last few years. I bought this in pretty rough shape, no fenders, hood, trans, tailgate, interior...etc..not much there..lol. I changed the nose to a 1991 gmc suburban and the bed is a 1995 stepside. I started by changing the drivetrain, A 1985 dana 60 oneton with 456 gears, hardened axles and a locker upfront, the rear is a 1974 14bolt full floater with disk brakes, 456 gears and a detroit locker. As for the engine is a 1971 350 bored .040 over, domed pistons, 12:1, 515 lift comp cams, bowtie heads with stainless 2.055 valves , hardened seats etc. The whole thing runs about 425 hp, as for the transmission i used a 1980 granny low 4sp (sm465) and for the transfercase i have a 1980 cast iron gear driven 205. For the suspention i have a shackle flip in the rear with 52 inch springs and 6 inch shackles(8inches of lift) up front i have 53 inch alcan springs with 7 inch shackles and the axle moved 1.5 forward. The travel i have is 6inches up and 8 down, I installed 14 inch travel rancho 9 way adjustable shocks. The tires which are uper swamper tsl 39.5x15x15s on 15x10 eaton wheels. Last ive added a x450 carb with a woodward evap/reg and a advanced fuel electric lockoff, a pair of 43 pound large forklift tanks in the bed(still tuning this)...here are a couple photobucket pics.
