LNG FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT / IN-TANK PROBES

Post by shewelt »

HewTech Electronics LLC has developed a low-cost LNG Fuel Tank Level Gauge / Sending module for vehicles using LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) as a Cryogenic Fuel.

The Model SSU-33/240M is an LNG fuel level signal converter / sending unit designed to interface LNG tank probes to a standard automotive fuel-level gauge. Our design is compatible with trucks, buses, trains, basically any vehicle using LNG as a low-cost alternative fuel.

The sending module interprets the LNG fuel level from the sensor probe in the fuel tank. The signal received from the sensor probe is converted to a proportional electrical signal, then sent to any common 33~240 ohm GM automotive-type FUEL Gauge (available separately).
he sending module design utilizes a RISC microcontroller to precisely monitor the LNG fuel level. Calibration values are permanently stored internally in EEPROM. Data is stored for the lifetime of the vehicle, even if power is lost!

Simple 1 finger push-button or EZ laptop calibration quickly sets the EMPTY (0%) & FULL (100%) levels on any tank. The FUEL gauge is also calibrated to the actual fuel level with precision.

The design easily handles a variety of probe lengths (tank sizes) and cable lengths over a wide range of characteristic capacitance, which makes this ideal for all LNG fuel level measurement. Only one sending unit is needed for all your vehicle applications.

The design takes into consideration low-voltage directive (LVD) and intrinsic-safety practices by using a low 3.3 volts DC circuit power & isolation to the probe. Power is from a typical 12 Volt battery used in most vehicles. Optional 24VDC power is available as an option.
