I'm not up on all of the EPA regulations but I find this to be very hard to believe. Can anyone confirm that this is true? If it is true, has anyone actually been fined for using biodiesel?Popular Mechanics wrote:The EPA says that using vegetable oil as fuel is a violation of the Clean Air Act and that modifying a car to run on vegetable oil can result in a $2750 fine.
The US DOE's Alternative Fuels Biodiesel web site has a section for federal Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 2005 (HR6) summaries. There seems to be a lot of money in the Act for studies and tax credits but I can't seem to find anything encouraging biodiesel for the private citizen.
