Re: Rail buggy running
The point I am concerned about is when you remove the crankcase vent, the fuel mixture changes. That would presume there is fuel in the crankcase. Was the crankcase vent supply moved from the bottom of the mixer to the fresh air point? Is there another fuel source into the crankcase? Removing steam ...

Re: Experience concerns
I was contacted twice in the last week to help someone get a vehicle running who had purchased a kit online (the kits all seem to be coming from Utah but of either south American or far east European origin). When I examined the vehicle, I had to simply say that I could not involve myself in the pro...

Re: looking to do a dual fuel setup any sugestions?
The 425 will effectively throttle the airflow through it even when running on E85. The airvalve will float at the relative airflow through it. If you configure a vacuum solenoid to retract the airvalve to its maximum lift, the airflow will not necessarily increase. I once got into a discussion with ...

Re: What's the highest Compression Ratio you've run
This one has been stuck for a couple of days so I'll give it a try. I ran one converted Diesel engine with an adjusted CR of 13.5:1 and had detonation when the engine reached operating temps. I had the ignition timing set relatively conservative. When we modified it to 10:1, it ran better, quieter, ...

Re: Sequental Vaporizer for Carb / Mixer setup
The main function of the mixer is to meter gas in direct proportion to the amount of air. If the mixer is removed, there is no method of correctly metering the fuel to air. The term "sequential vaporizer" is not familiar to me. Can you supply the weblink of the manufacturer of the product your are i...

Re: broke forklift tank?
I am very surprised that no one will exchange your cylinder, these are done every day for forklift companies. Try major players, like Amerigas, Blossman Gas, FerrelGas, Heritage (now a part of Amerigas). A visual inspection and replacement pressure relief valve should run no more than about $40.00 i...

Re: regulator freezes up
The two small holes are there to allow for the rubber gasket to expand, and to allow any condensation to drain. If coolant is leaking there, the casting may have developed a porous hole due to corrosion. If your coolant is full and it still freezes, I suspect the vaporizer is full of sediment and ne...

Re: broke forklift tank?
If the cylinder (the proper name since it is DOT certified) is totally empty, the liquid gauge can be unscrewed (the very large hex fitting), again, strong emphasis on EMPTY! Shake the cylinder again. If the rattle is gone, it was the gauge float. If it is still there, the liquid tube has come loose...

Re: broke forklift tank?
The rattle you hear is probably the gauge float, they all do that. If it is a heavy banging, the liquid pickup tube MAY have broken off but that is rare (I have seen one that did but thats one in over 40 years). For what its worth, if you are going to use that forklift tank, it will be a liquid draw...

Re: Air /Fuel O2 sensor tuning.
All O2 sensors require fresh air to circulate around the outside of the sensor. This would prevent it from being inserted into an exhaust filled pipe. The sensor operates by comparing the media passing through the sensor element to the outside air, which allows electrons to flow across the matrix ge...

Re: Liquid injection installation
Intake valve failure is very rare. What was the cause or type of failure? The Schwans Bi-Phase system is very engine specific, typically the GM 454 or 8.0 liter. A few of the later ones were calibrated for the 6.0. For one of these to appear on eBay, I would be concerned about the durability. Most a...

Re: Liquid injection installation
The liquid LPG injection system requires a vehicle with an existing port fuel injection system. The only L-LPG system I am aware of that may come close to having a system that may be installed is the ICOM-USA. The injectors are calibrated for the engine and there is some tweaking required for pressu...

Re: Idle - Impco 425 on 327 small bloc
You mention that you closed the center hole on the Holley baseplate. Check that there arent two more. This is a very frequent source of air leaks on the baseplate. You only need the four outer screws to hold the 425 to the baseplate.

Re: IMPCO L or LB2 ??
The LB2 means the unit is a model L vaporizer. The "B" means it has a BLUE spring inside on the secondary diaphragm, and the "-2" means it should have the yellow silicone diaphragm, the good one. Re-kit it and put it on. Its a good unit, one of the most popular. Pay close attention to the primary pr...
