Re: freshie impco rich on decel ???

well, I'll be ..... the key to this simple thing, concept kicking about in my head, wondering how the fuel could get richer - sneaking past the diaphragm seat somehow ??? Well, in a complex mixer such as the Impco it is the mixture screw .... ain't it ?? Idle mixture @13.3 :1 . If anything tailpipe ...

Re: freshie impco rich on decel ???

oh, my mistake Franz - and thanks for coming in so quickly :) I should have explained that it is a portable on road tail pipe analyser Vane 8020 or the like , used it many times on many different vehicles. Am used to seeing lean readings at idle when something blows wind up its pipe in a stationary ...

Re: Thermostat, frosty morning

used to always get converter freeze until I plumbed priority to the converter instead of the heater core first. Was the cold air inthe mornings it could not cope with - poor little J / Cobra converter. I also ran a fresh brrr, cold air intake directly from the side of the guard - where indicator onc...

freshie impco rich on decel ???

I'm just back from a test drive with an AF meter running off the tail pipe - my first conversion 25 years ago. 250 ci straight six running dedicated Impco L converter and 225 mixer - no balance tube. Not really been touched in 25 years - just driven, and pretty rare drive in last 15 years. I have su...

Re: Propane pollution

and...isn't the pollution gonna be hanging around our ankles rather than up higher in the atmosphere and forever looking for a drain to fall down as it disperses due to its heavier than air properties ??

Re: Propane pollution

not seen anyone use the correct name for the ullage valve in above posts. I think the ullage valve as used in camp and BBQ bottles was discontinued n automotive propane containers some thirty years ago. If you have looked after your ullage valve container there is no law to prevent the conatiner fr...

Re: dyno testing lpg 1.4 turbo 8 valve

Great to see the charts, and to see that richer does not always, if ever, produce best power ! recently reduced my rich levels to high 13s max and feels like my 8 valve, 1800cc boxer NA drives better. My next turbo application deserves a temp probe to make sure I don't crack another turbo :(

Re: IMPCO endorsed mod ? air bleed hole sizes

to be honest, this ute ran quite well as a dedicated system, gave better economy compared to same equipped same model, same engine - just 450,000 fewer kms. One deliverewd 540kms to 70 litres. The one with fresh engine and three air transfer holes did 540kms to 65 litres - then I changed exhaust for...

Re: Need automotive LPG troubleshooting help?

The Diagnostic book came in handy when I had an intermittent no start. After checking the supply channel, replaced a cracked housing solenoid at the tank and got another no start - always after many hours of no operation. I come in to read my downloads to have brain register with sideways mounted mi...

Re: 1988 F350 with smog control issue

I am not about to resolve your issue, but, you did mention it has a miss ! A miss, as in not firing correctly or at all would pump out some bad air richness ? For some to consider the concept -a very tidy lean bias logic ( LBL) system has been developed in Australia I believe for our market.Uses IMP...

Re: IMPCO part # AB1-26

hmmm, well, thanks for trying. The mention came out of an IMPCO book - featuring a lot of detail of classes held by Don bass, answering a lot of questions, looking at all gas applications of the day - early/mid seventies. Conjuring up image of Franz in shorts as a new recruit way back then :) Nice t...

Re: IMPCO part # AB1-26

and see what bumpstart has done by mentioning an entirely different part - though similar part number ? Sent Franz way of tangent of the initial topic the compensator AB1-26 for balance lines - curious to know what it looked like. Did not find it any old notes or parts lists of the days when the scr...

Re: Franz's email ?? sending phishing !!

happy to report no more emails from Franzs address book infiltrators. I also clicked on the report phishing for gmail, but phishing seems to constitute attempts made to ask for banking details etc - I just got a link, I hope. Not scratching, not any slimmer either :)
