Re: What's this plunger for? (OHG X450)
The power valve should open when vacuum is lower than 5". If it is opening at values higher than 5" (i.e. 6"-20") the power valve spring has either lost its tension or it has been cut to change its operating settings (which to me is a bit of a no-no). The original springs were 16mm (or 5/8" in imper...

Power valve plunger. It open when vacuum drops and allows more LPG to flow into the mixer.

Re: IMPCO 425: new base plate, binds when engine runs
When the throttle plate is not screwed onto the mixer what does it feel like?
My suggestion would be cut your losses and get a new 600 throttle plate.

Re: Forum/site crash - 1 month loss of data?
My take on cloud storage is it is only ok if you have some other form of backup as well. I used cloud storage for a while and after losing 3 different assignments for 3 different subjects the day before the 1st one was due (they were all due within 5 days of each other) I had no time to re-write any...

Sorry I thought you were only discussing the mixer before.
If you want a convertor/regulator just purchase a LG B2. They are LG's copy of the X1 and the repair kits for these fit the X1 and the H240.

Re: Vapor hose ?
Do you mean Gann hose? Named after Gann Corporation who initially made it.
I've never seen it bigger than 1" but that doesn't mean it isn't available.
I'd be concerned that you are using a hose that is not designed for that purpose.

I don't doubt you but that looks, to me anyway, like it has been filled in.
There's a crack on the side of the hole that follows the round edge for a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if it is solder or some other hand malleable metal.

I've never known a Holley 4 barrel base plate to have a blind middle hole. I'd be pulling it off and checking it just incase.

Re: Problems getting an OHG x450 running right
I don't know of anyone who does OHG parts in Australia anymore. You could try LG MotorGas in Victoria. I contacted them a few years ago about OHG parts and they emailed me back with the reply to call them by phone indicating they had some material. Other than them I think Australia is a OHG wastelan...

Re: Timing a 350 on Propane
I learned a valuable lesson---you can't tune a propane system "by feel" or whatever. Actually you can, I have seen it done with extremely good results, but you need to know exactly what you are doing and you need a very accurate butt! People that can do this have years of experience, very detailed ...

Re: 454 valve seats
I think the welding and breaking of the weld between the valve and seat are a symptom of the slow combustion. I've never heard that before. I was taught they were a consequence of combustion temperature and residual heat thus the need for a valve lubricant when higher compression ratios were requir...

Re: 454 valve seats
I think that "heat" isn't quite an accurate description of what is happening. I had already explained, in my first post from memory, the welding and breaking of the weld between the valve and seat. C3H8 also mentioned it as well in his last reply from memory. I then used, possibly a poor choice of ...
