Ignition timing advance

I have converted a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria to run on LPG. I did this conversion last year. It is a Technocarb E.S.I.P system. I had few flaws, but nothing major. Main problem was one of the injectors was dropping it's rear seal. This would cause injector stroke to be less than 0.6mm and caused a li...

Re: RAIL SPA fuel injectors

I did check with my local vendor, they are not covered, they claim there is bad fuel that damages them. I could certainly understand that, but I have been able to repair that one housing of the defective injector and I have burned over 100 gallons of LPG since without any misfires. The problem with ...

Re: Technocarb Economy Vapor Injection

Another update. I had to reposition my regulator/vaporizer assy so the vapor outlets are both pointing completely down. Slight improvement, seem to work ok. Could still feel misfire @ times when idling. Felt like I was loosing a cylinder. Using the diagnostic function of the set-up software, isolate...

RAIL SPA fuel injectors

I have a Technocarb Economy Sequential Vapor Injection system that uses RAIL brand injector rails. Does anyone here know where can I get individual injectors for it? They seem to sell the entire rail assy and I only need 1 injector housing.

Re: 30 Miles per Gallon on Propane?

Thats 10.6 km/l. I have the prins system on a ford ranger 2 wheel drive 3 l. automatic with 5 speed. On the 400 series highway averging 130 km/h I get about 9 km/l. So I think it is do able. On the other highways and in the city I ger about 6 km/l Are you talking actual LPG liters or gasoline equiv...

Re: 30 Miles per Gallon on Propane?

I see, you are counting in equivalents. That would make sense. For example, if petrol costs $1.00/ liter and LPG is $0.50/liter, then technically you would be getting 50% "fuel economy" gain. To be more exact, you would be saving about 50% on your fuel bill. Never mind the fact that LPG only gives a...

30 Miles per Gallon on Propane?

I saw this interesting post. It is located right here: http://www.s10planet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13065 Poster claims they are intending to get over 30 Miles Per Imperial Gallon on LPG out of a 2wd Sierra. How is that possible? Since many posters here use metric system, here is conversion: 30 M...

Re: Technocarb Economy Vapor Injection

It sounds like there is something wrong with your set-up. My suggestion is that you contact Technocarb for tech support. They can often diagnose your system on-line with http://www.logmein.com . Turbine Guy has done an excellent job on his 2003 Sierra 1500 - 4.3L ESIP Conversion . Have a look at hi...

Re: Technocarb Economy Vapor Injection

I will see how it goes. I have cleaned out the regulator, hoses and injector rails. I have re-checked it one more time today, there is no build-up at this time. I will see what happens. I may have had some stuff in the tank (Sleeger tank, manufactured 8/2000) or I just picked up a load of LPG from t...

Re: Technocarb Economy Vapor Injection

The waxy substance is a byproduct of the manufacture and transport of propane. This contaminant is suspended in the liquid but is left behind after the fuel is vaporized. I believe propane originating from natural gas has less residuals than that refined from petroleum. Anyway, if the residuals mel...

Re: Technocarb Economy Vapor Injection

Thank you for the input, Steptoe. When I clean out the wax out of the system, engine runs perfectly. Ignition system seems to be OK, I checked it with oscilloscope. Both primary and secondary sides. I did have an unusually high firing voltages on left bank. That is when I looked into left fuel rail ...

Re: Technocarb Economy Vapor Injection

Thank you for the reply, Frank. I may be onto something here. Earlier today, I opened up my vapor lines at the regulator/vaporizer assembly and I saw something. There is tan/brown colored greasy/oily substance inside the regulator and inside the vapor lines right before my vapor filters. WD-40 seems...

Technocarb Economy Vapor Injection

Does anyone else here own or run a Technocarb's Economy Sequential Vapor Injection? I have one on my 1994 4.6 Ford. System did have a few issues recently. I get a very intermittent rough idle. Every time I try to test for misfire or do anything, problem does not occur. Problem seems to happen at tim...

Re: looking for GOOD quality plug wires

Getting a defective wire in a bunch is not at all uncommon. I would get a good spark tester at a local parts store. They cost around $20 around here. You can make one by removing bottom electrode on a used spark plug. Spark should jump at least 4mm to 6mm or so. You may have a broken conductor insid...
