Re: Rich mixture and burning valves
In the later models (EFI engines) Ford did put a straight up timing chain set in, but I had since changed that, to an older style that is suppose to be straight up as well, bit for the life of me I cannot remember right now.

Re: Rich mixture and burning valves
I wish that it was 300,000 MI, it's more like 200,000 MI. The engine has been serviced regularly, The timing was set back in December, it was set to 10 BTDC, even up at 14 BTDC, it was still a real dog. I will be replacing the timing chain on Saturday, I will let you know of how it responds after th...

Re: Rich mixture and burning valves
There will be a full rebuild coming up soon, addressing all of that (rings, bearings, springs, cam, pistons (11-12:1 compression) but I'm just trying to get something together to get more power than what it has right now, which is maybe 100-150 hp (feels like, had an empty 16' tandem axle flatdeck t...

Re: Rich mixture and burning valves
Thank you for your reply's, they were all within 10% of each other. I will be preforming a wet compression and leak down test this weekend. I was discussing this issue with my boss, and he was saying that most likely, my problem, is stemming from a timing issue, not spark timing, but probably cam ti...

Rich mixture and burning valves
I have been fighting a lack of power in my 93 F350 for some time (well back when it was my parents truck, and now that it is mine) I was wondering if running a real rich propane mixture would burn either the intake or the exhaust valves to the point of loosing compression? The truck in question is m...

Re: 400l tank filling question
This tank is manufactured by Sleegans in Ontario,
I am running gasoline as well, but the tanks are kept down to 1/4 (when the price of Propane is better than Gasoline)

Re: 400l tank filling question
This 400L tank is in the bed of an F350 pickup
it took about 20-25 minutes to fill the tank from empty, and yes, there are 1/4 marks on the gauge as well as percentage filling, I will have to upload a cellphone pic of the tank gauge (hopefully it turned out clear)

400l tank filling question
I have a tank filling question,
I just filled my 400L tank today, right from bone dry (well, the engine was really bogging down when I switched it over to Gasoline) and it only took 310L, does that sound about right?
I would have thought more in the range of 340-350L
It has the auto shutoff on it

Re: Detonation/Pinging during high temp high rpm.
Personally, I would recommend a 460 over that 400, as there are a lot more go fast parts for the 460 To swap the engine over, is real simple, especially with an automatic. I'm running a 79 Bronco with an EFI 460 (my choice), but before that, I had a carb'd 460 in it. 35" tires with a 3.5 rear end ma...

Re: BBC on pane
I was just going to ask, is it a mud buggy, where you need the power at higher RPMs and throttle load? or is it a rock crawler, where you need the power down low? now I'm no expert, but.... if you are mud running, and need to keep the RPM's high with a higher throttle, then a dual setup is what you ...
