Re: turbo recommandations
Have you looked into this any further Sjak? Are you inclined to take the turbo route?

Search function
I have tried numerous times in the past to search for information on this forum regarding questions I have. I can never do a search because it's always telling me the words I typed are too common. Words like "mixture adjustment" can't be found. Why is this? Can it be modified? Forums are a wealth of...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
Well, it's been a while and I haven't done anymore research into the problem (because of a number of reasons) until today. After messing around with the idle diaphragm some more (putting a small brass bush in the hole for the gas to limit the amount of flow) and not getting any results, I decided to...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
Ok, thanks guys. The hose is a good idea too. Sometimes you just look right over the simple things
I will have a go at measuring the ports on the weekend.

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
Franz, thanks for your reply also. Maybe a stupid question, but this is due to unfamiliarity in the naming of all the parts, but the primary and secondary ports are on the 425? I'm assuming the secondary is the idle part? And the primary the main valve for driving? I will need to get hold of some gu...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
All the ports are clear and clean. I'm running a "19" valve. I tried doing a peak idle rpm adjustment with the idle mixture screw and that's jus the problem. The screw is all the way in, but it won't lean out (which causes rpm to rise) far enough. I know that tampering with springs isn't the right w...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
Firstly . you sure the idle mixture circuit is OK , The orifice port isnt blocked , the diaphragm isnt holed ? What happens when you screw in the idle mixture screw ? Go out and get a 2 inch carbie spacer , a full hole one not a 4 hole , stick that under the mixer , that will slow the MGV down a bi...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
I'm running a bone stock 318ci on straight LPG through a 425 in a 1977 Dodge W200 Powerwagon. I have a Holset HX50 pushing around 7-8 psi boost in a blowthrough configuration with 2 reg's. One is a model E and one is a model L. They are both boost referenced and seem to keep up when the boost comes ...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
I couldn't agree with you more Steptoe. On other forum's I use the search option quite often and hardly ever start a thread with a question. I normally reply to others' threads. I just can't seem to get the search function to work for me on this forum. I constantly get the message saying my search w...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
Run a forum search the info is there and there is also a couple threads about worn 425s and what to look for and trouble shooting rich idles..settings and leaking diaphams and settings like what is the factory power valve height... That's one of the major problems I have on this forum. Every search...

Re: 425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
I'm not sure on the number off the top of my head, but last year I was messing around with it and looked up the number, to find it wasn't the lean burn one. I don't have closed loop either. I think you're probably right Sjak, that the mixer I have has seen better days. I bought it a year or 2 ago of...

425 running rich at cruise and richer at idle
What do you do if you have the mixture right under power (set with an A/F meter) but at cruising and idle it's too rich? When I turn the idle screw out, it will go richer to the point that it won't idle anymore, but I can turn the screw all the way in and just can't get where I wanna be to lean it o...
Re: My truck
Yes I am. I started out with one converter, but when I got to about 3psi it would die as if you flicked a switch. Get off the throttle and it would pick right back up. I thought the gas flow through the converter might not be enough, so I tee'd in another converter I had lying around. This solved th...

Hi,
Been on here for a while, but never posted anything. I own a '77 Dodge W200 (among other cars) with a turbocharged 318ci on LPG.
