72 Dodge truck. I will either be running a dedicated propane specific built 440 or a 440 stroked to 500 CID.
But we could keep this discussion non application specific as to not rule out smaller cfm systems.

Best propane system?

I was wondering what system is the best? To me the best system would be the most trouble free, fuel efficient, and least complicated. I think that the old school Impco systems are tried and true but lack efficiency. Plus on a big engine (500 CID) two would be needed so then it becomes more complicat...

Ok, I understand now.
You said that the Technocarb system is not bad. Is there a better system?

Franz
Like the Technocarb system?
I just guessed that since the oil stays cleaner longer that the engine also ran cleaner too.

So a converter would just make a clean propane burning engine even cleaner?

Re: EFS-600 Manual

In case anyone is interested, I've put up a copy of the EFS-600 manual: EFS-600 Manual I hope the EFS-600 manual will provide some insights into the operation of this system. Frank Thank you for posting the manual. It does a lot more than I thought. I would not have guessed about the start delay an...

I think that the dual vaporizer kit looks like it would meet any need for most any big street engine. The next thing I wonder about is HP ratings. An engine is expected to make 425@5000 for hp and 490@4000 for torque on gasoline. Since there is less BTU's in propane do you de-rate the ratings and ch...

"Technocarb rates their converters at 400 hp."
So what do you do if your plans call for more than that? I also wonder about HP ratings. With less BTU's in propane, I can't expect the same HP out of the same sized engine. Even one that is purpose built for propane. Right?

Wow, that was a very good explanation of how all the systems work. I can see the advantages to the Technocarb system. It is more that just a pretty looking system! :D On a V8 engine, are there two oxygen sensors? One for each side or does it just look at one side of the engine to set the air/fuel ra...

Technocarb system.

I see that Raso Enterprises sell complete Technocarb systems. What advantages does that system have over an Impco system?
I see that you can get different CFM mixers which is nice but I don't know much else about them.

Since it is a 72, I would assume that it has points? Are they gaped correctly? Also check inside the distributor cap (dizzy) and on the rotor. Make sure that there isn't any carbon tracks (will look like a black carbon line in the cap or a black dot on the rotor) The spark will follow these and not ...

Thank you for posting those articles. I thought the part " Who knows, perhaps this excellent gas may replace gasoline in high performance vehicles someday" was funny.
