LPG CCR?

Franz, I'm curious about your comment about LPG's lower CCR (critical combustion ratio) relative to CNG's. Does CCR measure the specific fuel's ability to be compressed before it ignites? Is LPG's CCR lower than diesel fuel's CCR, while CNG's is closer to diesel's? And how does the CR of the engine ...

Were any of these PING or HCCI diesel engines turbocharged? How does CNG take to turbocharging or does it introduce a new set of complexities? I would imagine that if you were going to use both gasoline and CNG in an engine where you're switching back and forth between fuels, that a flexible ...

Replacement of the CNG GFI system?

Thanks for the reply......are there any companies out there that manufacture a kit or components to replace the GFI Compuvalve for CNG and/or the injectors? :?: (I'm wondering about the prospects of replacing those and keeping the tank and lines). I think I saw a thread somewhere about some aftermar...

CNG mileage

Steptoe: if what I understand you're saying, you are getting terrible mileage with your CNG. You only can go 60 miles on 80 (eighty) Litres of CNG in your 6-cylinder? Are you sure that isn't 8 litres? I can go 130-150 U.S. miles on 19 (nineteen) Liters of CNG (5 U.S. gallons) in my 4 cylinder (2 lit...

12:1 compression ratio?

I would echo Franz's comments with what we see in the real world. I'm getting roughly 10% worse mileage with my car running on CNG than when running on 85 octane gasoline - (that's the cheapest grade they sell here in Utah and we're at 4200 ft. altitude). On hills here in Utah I usually downshift my...

compuvalve or injectors?

Yes, its a factory unit (GFI) and I bought it at government auction with 18,000 miles on it. Its like new inside and outside. If it is the injectors Franz, do I have to replace those or can they be pulled and cleaned? How does wax and oil get in the CNG injectors? If its the primary regulator, is th...

CNG won't start engine when its cold

I have a 2000 Ford Contour with the CNG/gasoline engine (bi-fuel). When the outside temperature gets below freezing (32*) it won't start on the CNG. Anyone know what the problem could be? Please don't tell me the stinking-expensive Compuvalve is going out.

CNG vs. LPG

Here in Utah I think CNG gets the edge due to the cost difference. CNG is only $ .74 per gge. Propane is $ 2.17 and gasoline is $2.19 (e-85 if you can find it is also $ 2.19 - $ 2.25). Hence, gasoline and propane are almost 3 times as much as CNG. Also, I don't have to wait to fill up my CNG tank, b...
