Re: 454 efficiency - Maximum CR
Hey good to hear it worked out as well as it did Burb. You did say that fuel economy was one of your top requirements and that seems to have been accomplished. Nothing to sneeze at with those numbers compared the price of petrol these days. Maybe some of those compromises made by using the gen 6 did...

Re: Circuit Trackday with the '73 Dart
Hey pretty cool! The old dart looks and sounds pretty good especially given what you are running along side with. Are you happy with how the engine turned out now that you have had some time to work the bugs out?

Re: Introduction and question on water injection
Noticed your post Troy.. Interesting, an old school 390 with some modern jewelry.. or is that a 351 stroker? What compression ratio are you running? Why not just add an intercooler if concerned? Would like to hear the dyno results too. There was another fellow on here a while back wanting to add a t...

Re: Adding an elec. fuelpump to an Impco vaporizer+425 setup
Hey been awhile since I've looked in here. Good to see some action still happening. Global warming increased emission checking etc on the way. Propane may outlast petrol by the time its all said and done.. See lots of good advice and numerous things to check in regard this setup. I have a friend who...

Re: Building a fresh 360ci engine for mileage & power
I still check in to this forum once a week or so to see whats new. You've come a long ways.. I've had trouble with some hyd lifters before and going solid is an option depending which cam you have. I concluded the lifter bores were a little too worn in my case. Yours was more the lifter quality? Whi...

Re: 454 efficiency - Maximum CR
Just thought this post from another burb driver had some interesting points in regard cam choice. Its on gasoline but the tq hp range is near what was being sought here. How many stock pick-up trucks hit 5000rpms on a regular basis? I built a 400SBC with 9.5 compression, 305 #601's I think on the he...

Re: 454 efficiency - Maximum CR
It would be nice to be able to test all the different parameters and combinations of parts we think of and talk about. Unfortunately it is a fair bit of work and doesn't usually work out that way. I try to get people talking about what they've done and the results they experienced when I run into so...

Re: Whats wrong with this turbo setup?
Its a good starting point imo, cheapest and easiest way to get it going and see what it does. One ohg 450 with one x1 converter gives you a bit more than a single impco setup. Work out the bugs and modify from there if need be.

I don't see why not from looking at how they work. There used to be some European sites with better information on the blos setup. Do you have one running now in na form?

Re: 454 efficiency - Maximum CR
If my thinking on this is correct, it would make a stronger case for using a bit larger volume 'airflow components'. For example, larger intake port volumes, perhaps an Rpm 'air gap' style manifold as opposed to a smaller one, twin mixers to feed it all, etc... And it would also help explain the lo...

Re: Whats wrong with this turbo setup?
You are asking most all the right questions dayzed. The ohg is good for a few more hp than the impco but probably only up around 360. I've teed two converters in series to one mixer before. No diff really but that was with both running off one lockoff. I'd go with the single/single setup and see how...

Re: 454 efficiency - Maximum CR
Makes me wonder if maybe it's a mistake to place too much emphasis on the importance of needing very small ports to have enough velocity for a fun daily driver.... As a side note, but relevant to this thread, when the stock small chamber heads went bad, I put some 454 heads on with similar size por...
