Re: newbie w/Dodge truck
cab is in awesome shape; bed is just starting to "go" around the wheel wells; I found a rust free Texas bed nearby; debating whether I want to go that route or else I'm thinking of going with a fiberglass utility style bed. I have a spare tranny (727) thinking of looking for a 92-older non lockup 51...

Re: glad I put the rebuild kits in my 300 A and my "L".
the next hot ("dry") day like today that I have any time I still gotta sandblast that propane tank so I can get some paint onto it so I can mount it then go thru my truck like a fine tooth comb to make sure it's tuned out to run the best I can get it on gasoline before the switchover to propane.... ...

glad I put the rebuild kits in my 300 A and my "L".
finally got around to it today; getting closer to being ready to get it on my old Dodge; the diaphragm in the 300 was the "good" yellow one but did have a tear in it; on the vaporizer I was surprised at how much carbon buildup was in there; it was like looking at exh ports; got it all cleaned up; ju...

Re: best setup for a staright Propane conversion
Hey, Imperial; I have an AFB on the truck now; I have played with a couple AVS' (never owned one though) but yes I mean Thermo Quads; I know they can be a headache to tune right; I must have gotten lucky as I have had a few and none yet gas needed much more than mixture adjustments or idle speed adj...

Re: whats so special?
well the $$ is gone and I have the parts sitting here staring at me; so they are going in. My whole point of the thread wasn't need or not needed; but how little the pile of parts is relative to the amount of $$ it takes to get them. Imports or US made never came into the question (though I often go...

OK one more (for now)
Air filter element; I have a 300A "50/70" mixer here with an OLD air filter (14" outside diam) it is nasty; been sittin since about 1987, exposed; Is there a standard Fram, AC, Purolator etc one that I can get for it? Re: best setup for a staright Propane conversion
this is my 83 Dodge 3/4 ton, 318; I currently have an AFB 625 on there and wanted to run a TQ on there as a dual fuel but til someone else offers up their truck as a "volunteer" for the Mythbusters to debunk the myth of a TQ not being a good idea for a dual fuel, I'm not gonna go there (I was) so if...

Re: whats so special?
Can I guantee this is the reason, no, however from experience I put 10 to 20 repair kits in other components compared to every 300 mixer. I have to fully agree here. Also, simply age can make the diaphrams less flexible than required for easy smooth engine startups. This is usually the reason why p...

best setup for a staright Propane conversion
I'm looking into possibly going "straight" propane down teh road if my dual fuel results are favorable; My truck has a 4 bbl gasoline carb on it at the moment; we talked on here in other threads about a Carter TQ not being the best choice for a gas carb when used with a dual fuel setup due to its pl...

Re: whats so special?
you apparently don't get what I say; From what I see $80 gets me a diaphragm, a gasket or 2, and maybe 10-12 screws.... it just doesn't seem like alot for the $$ and being on Disability (trying to get a real job to relieve myself of it and get back to the working world is proving fruitless) but basi...

Re: gas carb question (dual fuel)
no I mean gas as in gasoline; as is typically the "other" fuel in a dual fuel setup. you need a choke for when the engine is cold w/a typical carb'd gasoline engine; but if I use propane with other than a totally warm engine, then the choke will act as a restriction for propane.
