Re: Impco 225 Oops...
I pulled the 1" Vapor hose to fix other problems and found heavy end build up about an inch from the reg that was closing the hose off to about 1/2" internally for about 3"... This is the last time I strip stuff from other trucks without checking them!

Impco 225 Oops...
Good morning all, I may have screwed up here... I have a 300 Six running a 225 Mixer and model E reg, 2 days ago i swapped from a 1 barrel log intake to an '88 EFI intake and put a 2 barrel base plate onto the mixer. Here is where the problem began... truck has a 5 speed, 3.08 rear gears(yep, Ford a...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
I can definitely say that it is fixed now, starts, and runs nice at all rpms, pulls good from the bottom end through the shift points etc. It would still be nice to have more airflow around the engine but since its in a Van, I guess one cant be picky eh? Thanks for all the help with this as well, it...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
I know the power valve only works at wot but I was just posting an installer's ideas that were thrown at me from his previous 400/440 installs(if they have any way to tell how close it is I don't know). That said it did seem to help with the bad bog I had on the bottom end when I lay into the thrott...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
Got a question that may seem stupid relating to this engine... I talked to an installer that has done a few(dozen) 440 powered Dodge Van chassis motor homes. He looked it over, told me to put the power valve all the way in, then back it out 4 turns, and put the stock air cleaner back on instead of t...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
The EB answered my question, its a blue spring in all of my vapourizers, one is an unknown that I will look at further. I have yet to make any further progress on anything though.

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
Pay no attention to the year of the van for this, the engine trans and ignition system are all 1977 Dodge D100 pickup spec, the van's computer is still in and used for the speedometer only. I will stop and see if my parts guy has any timing tape in stock, the damper has turned and I can't even find ...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
Radiator hoses checked out good, the were replaced by the P.O less then a year ago, and the lower's spring feels good. As for the radiator, I will check that when I can here but right now the engine is hot and there is no room to get at it with the grille and grille guard in front. So far today I ha...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
The zero vacuum I saw was the engine quitting at WOT due to lack of fuel, once I opened the aux tank it ran and I'm seeing 1.5" at WOT As for the heating up, I have been playing all day and it has gotten better, all things considered it actually runs cooler then the 318 did in this van but once I hi...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
Thanks for the reply. :) I was just going to add a bit more info, I have a couple more tests I want to run but... I just had a vacuum gauge hooked to the engine, it pulls 15" at idle, if I hammer the throttle wide open the vacuum reading drops to 0 and the VFF seems like it clamps shut until the rev...

Re: Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
Well, I have a bit of an update, much earlier then planned... I was out on the highway a 1am playing and notice 2 things the engine is doing that leads me to suspect an excessive lean condition... 1: at a steady speed I can feel the engine surging constantly, it seems to go away if I either get into...

Ram Van with a 400ci and glowing manifolds
Hey all, its been awhile since I was here last, been busy with school and such, now kind of wound up with a new problem, but also a recurring one from a few years ago. I couple of months ago a friend of mine sold me a '91 Dodge B250 van, on propane from new, ex Kamloops RCMP unit. All I know about i...

Re: 300 I6 running rich.
A bit of an update... I had to take the truck into town this morning, and got all of 1km before the fiber cam gear went, so as things sit, I will update again once the other engine is up and running. That may be awhile as I am swapping the body to the 4wd chassis at the same time. Thanks for the hel...

Re: 300 I6 running rich.
Sorry I never got back earlier, I never made it to get the mixers. They did seem rather small on the ID when I looked at them. I'm actually looking at putting a 351w throttle body on the engine and opening up the intake to match(that would be the spare engine). As for the mileage, a shop filled me i...

Re: 300 I6 running rich.
So since the "mechanic" ignored the timing specs during the conversion, I'm now paying for it... I'm actually grabbing the mixer for an '88 300 Inline 6(this would be the other one I have) but the engine they came from is an unknown. The internal bore looks quite small on them, but I never looked at...
