I would not recommend the X-1. Use an Impco EB instead, install an orange spring in it and it will work fine with the 450-mixer.
The EB is more durable, and rebuild kits are cheaper and more common than those for the X-1.

I had the same issue. Try opening the link in a new tab or new window, worked for mestorm wrote:Unfortunately they only cached one layer (level) in and you can't actually get into any of the topics.

The few 1644's I sold also gave varying results. So if you decide to buy one, consider it an interesting experiment rather than a fuel saving device.

Re: 351m/400 on propane????
A technocarb-setup with single mixer will also work fine. It also depends on how the truck will be used. If most is normal driving, and budget is limited, then you will get more satisfying results with a single Impco 425 mixer (or OGH X-450 if you can still find one). If you really anticipate on usi...

Re: troubleshoot no start ?
Throw in a rebuild kit, those are pretty cheap (around $60). Its not just dirt, also the diaphragm gets harder with the years. And not only the secundary (the one you see when you remove the cover) but also the primary diaphragm and the seal can give issues

Re: What Size Impco Carb?
I would bet on a 200-series mixer.
The 125 is more suited for 4-cilinder engines in the 1.5-2.5 litre range.

It could be usefull to mention you country/region, as local regulations regarding LPG-installation do vary.

Re: How tall is an IMPCO 425 compared to Rochestor
Keep in mind that on the QJ, the aircleaner sits on top of the carb, with the Impco, it falls mostly over the mixer (top of the mixer is almost highest point of the setup) The only US QJ-equipped GM-V8-cars I've seen lacking hood clearance for the 425-setup are the FWD Toronado/Eldorado's with the 4...

Re: Loss of power after firmly taking roundabouts
model L should be vertical with outlet down and dish racked left to right across the bay to prevent surge during cornering During enthusiastic cornering, none of my Impco E equipped (vertically mounted) cars had this problem, so mounting the converter vertically doesn't necessarily imply power loss...

It could be the metering rod of the mixer, you have a 300-A mounted on top of your paintthinner dispenser?

As for the electronic acknowledgement. Many sites use it as a :? slight protection. I'm no lawyer but we all know the enthusiasm of the USA lawyer  to sue, and the first person, or company, on the list is the developer of a web site followed by anyone that provided advise. It seems like a sm...

Re: classic sequental setup on echoboost engines
That is not necessarily a risk.
For years, e.g. Saab 9-3 and 9-5 etc have been running with vapour or liquid injection, without significant backfire problems.
Backfires usually occur due to either ignition problems (worn cabels, plugs,...) or mixture problems (usually due to vacuum leak).

Re: classic sequental setup on echoboost engines
Some systems automatically add a bit of gasoline at full throttle or above a pre-programmed RPM, so why not? On paper, anything can work. In practice, it usually depends on the quality of the parts, and how much development was invested in the LPG-computer for the specific application. I've seen som...

Re: Experience concerns
I wouldn't be too concerned. There's loads of forums discussing carstuff. Working with cars involves certain dangers, even when it's not related to the fuel system. If anyone works on his/her car, its at his/her own risk and expense. I've seen a lot of stupidity and carelessness on some forums, but ...
